The Cardio Clinic

Background

Today in Ireland Heart Disease is our number one killer. While this is sometimes heriditary in nature, it is more typically the result of our sedintary lifestyles – poor diet, lack of exercise, greater stress, less sleep, smoking, and drinking too much. And regretably, we rarely take remedial action until it is all but too late. But it doesn’t have to be that way! Research has shown that much can be done to make positive change and improve a person’s risk. The first step to reducing risk is to understand it.

The Cardio Clinic

The Cardio Clinic is Ireland’s first community based, full–service Cardiac screening and diagnostics centre. It’s primary focus is the noninvasive screening of patients at the earliest opportunity, in order to diagnose serious cardiac problems or heart disease, before they develop into something a lot more serious. Part of the service is exclusively aimed at Heart Failure prevention. The Cardio Clinic is a dedicated heart clinic run by a multi-disciplinary team of cardiac professionals, including consultant cardiologists, clinical psysiologists, nursing and administrative staff; and appointment is by GP referral only.

Services

The services on offer at the clinic include, Echocardiography, Electrocardiography, Exercise Treadmill Stress Testing, 24 Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring, Holter Monitoring and Triage BNP Blood Testing.

Outcomes

Following early diagnosis, the patient in association with his/her GP and the Cardio Clinic can develop a suitable health management strategy the benefits to which are … reduction of risk, prevention of serious and complicated consequences, e.g. heart attack or heart failure and, most importantly, longer life.
